Licensing and distribution

Public downloads live in Cleetus Releases. Development source is maintained separately in a private repository; installing a VSIX does not require source access.

The current Cleetus extension's Apache-licensed portions retain the accompanying Apache License 2.0 and notices. Existing Apache distributions and rights are not withdrawn by making development private. Third-party and open-source components retain their own licenses.

A future proprietary Cleetus IDE preview may be distributed under the Cleetus IDE Preview License included with that build. It permits personal and commercial use without a software license fee, including work for an employer or customers. The grant continues for the covered build already received. Future versions, editions, support and services may have different pricing; they do not impose a retroactive fee on that granted build.

That preview license applies only to proprietary portions expressly identified with it. It does not replace Apache-2.0, publish proprietary source, or authorize public redistribution of proprietary portions. The current browser developer host is not a packaged native IDE release.

Read the LICENSE/NOTICE and any product-specific license files included in your download. The Claude SDK/executable is installed separately, not bundled in the VSIX. Engine subscriptions, model/API usage, AWS/cloud services and other third-party charges remain separate. A free Cleetus license does not grant provider access or make model usage free.
